About Wendy Stewart
Dr. Wendy A. Stewart is a pediatric neurologist with a diverse educational background. Originally from Dundee, Scotland, she now lives in New Brunswick, Canada. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, where her thesis focused on proton spin relaxation in multiple sclerosis. She earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Calgary and a Master’s Degree in Medical Education with Distinction from Dundee University, Scotland. Dr. Stewart is board certified in Electroencephalography, Neurology, and Paediatrics.
Dr. Stewart is classically trained in piano accordion and has integrated her passion for music into her professional life. She has been involved in various music-related research projects, including exploring the impact of ensemble music training on children through Sistema New Brunswick. She has also presented on different aspects of music at numerous local, national and international conferences and rounds. Dr. Stewart’s philosophy of practice and teaching is deeply rooted in the integration of the humanities and arts into medical education. She believes in fostering critical thinking and communication skills through the use of visual arts and music. Her approach emphasizes the importance of understanding the human experience in medical practice, promoting empathy, and enhancing clinical reasoning.
