About Adam Greig

Dr. Adam J. Greig is a Scottish-born musicologist, performer, and educator originally from Fife. He completed his BMus (Hons), MMus, and PhD at Lancaster University in England, with his doctoral research focusing on the music of French composer Germaine Tailleferre.

Since 2011, Adam has served as Academic Coordinator at KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, overseeing curriculum development and faculty management. In 2020, he was additionally appointed Artistic Director, expanding his leadership to include international and industry collaborations. Over the past decade, he has led major projects with partners such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Queensland University of Technology, Berklee College of Music, ROLI, Apple, Google, and Nokia. He has also represented KMMC in numerous public platforms, including YouTube Originals’ ARRived series, Facebook’s AR’s Super 8s, and The Creative Indians (Season 4), and has appeared alongside A.R. Rahman in the Times of India’s Mission Admission (2020). Since 2019, he has worked with the AR Rahman Foundation on musical outreach in Nagaland, culminating in a formal MoU to support further cross-cultural initiatives.

As an active performer and researcher, Adam explores the intersection of analytical and practice-based approaches to music interpretation and transmission. He has performed three piano concertos, including Tailleferre’s Concerto pour piano et 12 instruments, Poulenc’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and, most recently, with the Australian World Orchestra during its 2018 India tour. His secondary performance area is contemporary electroacoustic music, with appearances at the International Computer Music Conference (Belfast) and the LICA-MANTIS Festival (Lancaster, 2008).

His creative work includes Sempre Libera (2016), a 45-minute musical premiered in Chennai and later presented at NH7 Pune, and the original music video KMMC x ROLIwood Tribute, which debuted on YouTube and was performed at Founders Forum.
